1. Right now, it's all nuisance, news, and op-ed cartoons
I thought I had seen enough cartoons of gas station signs reading "Regular -- ARM, Hi-Test -- LEG" in the 1970s.

But I was terribly, horribly wrong.

The current wave of the incoming tide of crisis is still new and still more of a shared inconvenience than an upheaval. By early next year, the wave of inflation should be kicking in pretty good, and the international news won't be about gas lines but food shortages and famines.

In spite of all these waves, tidal energy generation won't budge from the blackboard. The oil company ads will show aeolian wind turbines (by the thousands), but the lion's share of the investment will go for "clean coal" and ethanol.
