The personal consumption expenditure index, which Federal Reserve officials say is a more accurate gauge of inflation than the better-known consumer price index, rose 0.2% on the month. The core rate of inflation - which excludes food and energy prices - also rose 0.2%, as expected.
In the past year, the PCE price index has risen 2.4%, while the core PCE index was up 1.8%, the same as the previous month. Fed officials have adopted a loose, informal target for core inflation of 1% to 2%.




BULL.... Why anyone would believe an index that does not include energy costs, one of the biggest expenditures in any household, is absurd.
