Are you better off since Bush became president?

I found an interesting paragraph in an article about a recent poll. I think this is one of the main things what democrats should emphasize in the campaign. Are you better off now? NO seems to be ahead...

Support for Bush on Iraq stabilizes

<snip>

Asked whether they were better off since Bush became president, 17 percent said they were doing better while 25 percent said they were worse off. Bush’s net negative rating on that question is the worst in any Post poll since President George H.W. Bush, whose poor ratings on the economy led to his defeat in 1992.
