Is using animals and babies in campaigns animal and child abuse?

I see little cute puppies and kittens used on the campaign trail. I have seen dogs and babies wearing Reagan and Bush tee shirts and sweaters. I have noticed many politicans like to use these to soften their image and bring people to their side.

Humm, I think this is a little twisted. If my parents ever made me where a T-shirt with Nixon or Ford on it I don't know if I could ever recover. Should we allow politicans to use this as a campaign tactic since clearly a baby and a dog can't make a decision to support or oppose a candidate?

I know we want to use it for OUR candidates, but that means defenseless democratic babies will also be subjected to being forced to wear a "FOUR MORE YEARS of BUSH" t-shirts.

I think it is better to let the innocent babies go free than to punish innocent ones by being forced to wear pro-Bush slogans.

What say you? Animal and Child abuse?
