so I don't know how relevant these are but I'll list some of my very favorite things from the rap world. (I would post links but I;m at work and youtube is blocked so I Can't look them up. Trust me though - if you are interested at all, these are worth looking up)

Jeru The Damaja (Album: THe Sun Rises In The East - haven't heard his other stuff) Aesop Rock (mostly for his song "None Shall Pass") Nujabes (and anyone he's worked with) Deltron 2020 Asheru (If you watch The Boondocks you'll know them from the theme song) Black Star (It's Mos Def and Talib Kweli at their finest as far as I am concerned - but yeah it's old) Jedi Mind Tricks Organized Konfusion
ACtually loioking over this list I realize it pretty much proves OP's point. I know nothing new lol. BUt these are good and I tried to avoid the obvious Wu-Tang and Dre and NWA and Nas and what-have-yous...
