or an answering machine that doesn't work very well. Maybe her phone got disconnected. Maybe she still lives with her parents and they're always in her hair. Maybe she's afraid that he's a Ted Bundy type and would just as soon not give out her private number this early in the game. (That might also be why she suggests the bowling date.)

There are a lot of reasons why she might suggest calling her at work. But we can at least assume she is interested or she could have chosen one of a million ways to dismiss him entirely.
