I was a basketball faNATic from about 11 to my mid-20s — played it 832 days per year and was absolutely rabid for the Lakers.

Then they started to change the rules. They outlawed defense and passing, trashed the traveling violation and, apparently, banned all shots except those from beyond 22 feet or with some dude 5' 8" driving the lane against three guys two feet taller. Oh, and all the players started wearing pajamas.

Women's basketball still has the feel and pace of the old game. I'll watch it most anytime — but it's rarely on teevee. :grr:
