Heh, but I disagree about wire baling twine! What a pain in the ass for us! I'm assuming you re-use the twine for fixing fence and I only have three-board. So I have to get my guys to actually think about recyclng (gasp!) metal twine instead of just pitching it into the garbage.

I tried the big bales once -what a pain in the arse. I am simply just NOT fixed to store it, or feed it out easily.

I do know a guy who uses the round bales at his horse farm: he simply unspools the entire bale down the length of his barn aisle every day and the guys just pitch hay into the stalls every morning. He saves a fortune by doing this instead of using small bales.

I am in such a sububanized area that the only guy who still bales hay can only give me 1000 bales or less/year. I truly wish I could patronize local farmers (any local farmers!) but we are just west of Chicago and it's impossible. There's just not enough profit on this land to make hay - taxes alone would eat a farmer up who still relied upon hay profit here.... :(
