car karma

i actually have some pretty good car karma. like the time i caught a car dealer in a bait and switch, and would up stealing the bait. i have never owned a new car, probably never will, or at least i won't until they start building genuinely green vehicles. i drive beaters, and love beaters. they just suit me.
so, my current beater, an 88 saab with close to 200k miles has been blowing oil, loosing little parts like door handles, and leaking air out of the tires. but i was not actively looking for a replacement. hoping it would hold out till january, when i will have a little coin. (there was some karma involved in the acquisition of this car, as well.)
out of the blue, i get a call from my favorite nephew. i rarely see him, or the rest of my family, cuz i am sick of the koolaid drinkers. but i talk to this kid (ok, he's not a kid, he is a father of 3.) from time to time. i have this beater i need to get rid of, he says. maybe your kids could use it? (3 teenagers.) i just have to get rid of it. i don't even really want any money for it.
so, i say, sure i will take a look at it.
the very next time the saab goes anywhere, it refuses to go into 1st gear.
i just wish i had good karma about something besides cars. like presidents.
