21. Why not? I mean, he would have been too young at the time, but
He's done well. He's earned two Oscar nominations, same as Depp, though both should have gotten more. DiCaprio pulls off some great performances. Gilbert Grape, Titanic, Aviator, Basketball Diaries, Total Eclipse, Romeo+Juliet (not a great film, but DiCaprio and Harold Perinauld put out great performances in it).

I like Depp better than I like DiCaprio (Or Hanks), I just think he's so stylized sometimes that his characters don't have full range of emotions. It's amusing to watch, but not always as fulfilling. Compare him to Geoffrey Rush (my vote for best living film actor at the moment). Rush's characters are so much more emotionally complete, and yet he still manages the diversity of Depp's characters. Depp was brilliant in Pirates, but think of Rush's "cursed" speech on the ship, and the range of emotions he goes through without breaking character. "For too long I've been parched of thirst and unable to quench it." His eyes and voice go from anguish to pleading to playful humor to cold steel all in one monologue. That's not easy, and he made it look very easy. Depp is great, but I don't think he's that great, yet.
