I doubt any generation will ever equal the musical talent in the black community alone during and immediately after WW II, not all of whom received the respect they deserved.

Duke Ellington
Louis Armstrong
Cab Calloway
Charlie Parker
Dizzy Gillespie
Count Basie
Charles Mingus
Johnny Hodges
Billie Holiday
T-Bone Walker

are as good or better than the people you've listed (who are quite impressive in their own right) and that's without any thought.
