But there are some things you shouldn't do in bed . . .

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Say it isn't so.

We thought we could count on the romantic French never to bring work into the bedroom, but furniture-maker French Heritage has done just that with their new Office-In-Bed.

While it's beautifully done in cherry, it is over the top when it comes to mixing business and personal time when we should wind down and leave the thought of work and papers in our home offices or at our places of business.

But Henessy Wayser, executive vice president and chief operating officer at French Heritage, says the company she created along with her husband, Jacques Wayser, is responding to the growing home-office trend in the United States. "Americans like to work and home offices are becoming more popular," she said.

Calling its new offering "the most comfortable home office in the world," the design French Heritage introduced at the International Home Furnishings Market last week has to be seen to be believed.

It's a bed with what appears to be a stationary shelf at its foot. But the shelf rolls forward along the bed's rails and flips open to reveal a broad work surface. A lift-up book rest is attached to the shelf so that books and papers can be propped up. The headboard has built-in storage behind tambour shutters and a hidden bookcase/nightstand inside drawers.
