I've always enjoyed the writing of Frank Miller-- to my mind, his high point was when he was doing DareDevil and Electra for Marvel Comics. He really put flesh on the bones of an aging superhero series, and I was disappointed when he moved on.

This reminds me a lot of that old style. It has a lot of violence in it, but it also has a lot of stuff you just never see outside the comic kingdom-- men jumping feet-first from third story windows onto hard pavement and then just walking off, for example (not to give you too much in the way of a spoiler).

There was also some things that reminded me of the old pure Dick Tracy newspaper strips, but perhaps that's just me. You can read a lot of different things into something like Sin City.

I highly recommend it (or is that "I recommend it while high"?)...

See ya in the comics!
