I am very sensitive to the oppression (and there's no other word for it) of atheists on a macroscopic (or official) scale.

Still, although I am an atheist myself, I have dearly beloved family members who are very religious, including my late mother, my late father, and my magnificient, generous and kind stepmother who is a very devout Catholic. In cases like these I choose to retain the last morsel of my Christian upbringing and "turn the other cheek." I don't think it hurts me nearly as much to graciously accept her "blessings" as it would to hurt me to trash my stepmother's good feelings and loving intent.
