I know it sounds corny but the thing that comes to mind first is that he's got really low self-esteem. Who know what's happened in his life.....And, as much of a frightful person she is,I can't help but wonder what's happened to her. I'm a social worker so I guess I naturally go there when I hear about these kinds of things....
