25. Actually, they can.
The MD-80, IMHO, has a much better auto-land system than the Boeing 737. The big difference is, after touchdown, the MD-80 system continues to track the runway centerline until the auto-pilot is disengaged (if I remember correctly).

I found too, that the MD-80 auto-pilot system could control the speed on final approach much better than the B-737/300. The MD-80 auto-throttle is much more sensitive.

Otherwise, I am a Boeing guy. I love the B-737-series. I've got at least 8000 hours in Boeing 737s.
