18. I had one in my room when I was a kid...
For many years, they were thought of as the height of tackiness, but they now seem a nostalgic memory of the early '60s, when we were on the verge of the "space age," and it was trendy for things to be recast in a "futuristic" mold.

I don't think they look good as a standard tree (with ornaments and packages around the base) but, put in the bay window of a '60s-era ranch house, with the color wheel providing the only light, they really look quite stunning.
