As for folk music it is out there. Dan Bern, Greg Brown, Tood Snider and so many more.

It is just not on commercial radio. listen to your community radio station. Or one of the great ones that are online. kvmr.org. kmud.org, kpig.com, Kboo.org, WWOZ.org etc.

Above all go to a music festival. get out there and see some of the great music that is available to see. go to jazzfest. Go to High Sierra Music Festival. Earthdance.
