Lawyers Should Heed Bob Dylan's Words

While his lyrics are often cited in court, they are also useful in practicing law

Joey Asher
Fulton County Daily Report
March 8, 2007

Bob Dylan said, "If I wasn't Bob Dylan, I'd probably think that Bob Dylan has a lot of answers myself."

In fact, legal scholars and judges often seek answers from the Bard from Hibbing, Minn.

Dylan is the most cited musician in law, according to Oklahoma City University School of Law professor Alex B. Long. Dylan has twice the judicial and scholarly citations (160) of his nearest competitor, the Beatles (74), says Long.

Since Dylan has so much to say about the law, I wondered what he thinks about communicating about the law. And I'm pleased to report that the answer, my friends, wasn't blowin' in the wind, especially if, in the grand tradition of Dylan interpretation, you read between the Bob's famously opaque lines.
