There are forms you fill out, Part A of Application to Sponsor a Member of the Family Class, and then forms hubby fills out, Part B, and then you need your documents (birth certificates, marriage certificate)

Then hubby will need a police check and a medical (the medical you have to do at a Cdn-approved doctor, there are lists for each state).

The forms would probably take you 2 hours or so to fill out, there's nothing much to them;

Then you send all your forms and documents and the fees in to Cdn Immi. You can wait in the USA until hubby gets his green card, or you can go to Canada on a "visit" and just stay and get his green card there.

If you have a car/cars you'd want to bring up with you;

Your household goods are tax & duty free to bring with you, you need to fill out an inventory list on a Form B4, and this link has lots of info and other links on household, cars, pets etc;
