denies the past.

Also, post a link to your polls or STFU!

Until I see the polls I cannot say with certainty, but it is very possible that the polls include asking Anglophones. I already explained why such polls would be illegitimate. The reason being that asking an occupier how they feel about an occupation is not legitimate. We would not take the support of many Israeli settlers in the West Bank as an indicator of widespread support for Israels occupation of the West Bank, as those who are acctually occupied feel differently. Also, even if the majority of Francophones were to feel ambivalent towards the liberation of Quebec, that does not mean that it is not the right thing to pursue. Just as workers are often intimidated into not voting for unionization, so it is possible that among the Francophone community there are many who are too scared to rock the boat and claim the freedom which is rightfully theirs.

The French-Canadian culture is in great peril today as it survives merely at the whim of Canada's anglophones. While there is a current attitude of tolerance (mere tolerance) toward the culture of Quebec, there is no apparatus to guarantee the continued survival of said culture. Quebec groans under the constant assault of larger Canadian society because in order to be integrated into Canada the people find it necessary to adopt English customs and English language. One could answer that the people are free to conduct their affairs at home in their own manner. This is not an acceptable state of affairs. While you would easily grasp complaints about 'Americanization', you appear blind to the idea that being part of Canada exposes the Quebecers to 'Anglo-phonization' merely by steady exposure to the rest of Canada. The survival of the culture is too important a matter to be left up to the rest of Canada (or Greater Ontario, if you will). The reason for this is that the rest of Canada is like a simple-minded giant that is crushing its pet mouse. Even if intentions are good, the mouse will be killed. Quebec cannot survive integration into the rest of Canada and constant exposure to Canada's culture and pop-culture. In order to survive the Quebecers must have an independent and sovereign state and even then it will be necessary to fight against the influences of English-speaking North American (both Canadian and US) culture. But the independent and sovereign state is a good beginning, because it would not be conflicted in its interests as the Canadian national government currently is. Only through national sovereignty can Quebec properly address its cultural needs.
