4. LCD monitors, a primer:
The LCD monitor is usually configured to deliver optimal appearance for one resolution only.

For all other resolutions, the LCD monitor cannot display it optimally - the end result is that the text looks fuzzy.

Find the monitor's manual and see which setting it's optimized for. (For a 19" monitor, I'd guess that its optimal size would be 1200x1024... maybe 1600x1200, but I doubt it.)

The Mac was configured to automatically be set to that one resolution and you're stuck with it.

There are several other reasons why I do not like LCD monitors (dead or stuck pixels are a real joy...), but the industry is dead set on thrusting it down our throats so what can ya do?

If you have WIndowsXP, consider changing the ClearType setting and see if that improves things.
