9. A friend of mine used his to climb a barn
He was looking around for handholds and didn't see anything, so he took out his knife, flipped out the corkscrew, and screwed it into the wood for a secure (?) hold.

I did minor surgery on a chicken. I was farmsitting and noticed that one of the roosters was limping -- it had gotten a piece of string (from one of the feed bags) badly tangled around its foot some time before, and now its leg was all cut and swollen. I grabbed the rooster, and used the small blade on my knife, which I keep very sharp, to sever the string and untangle it. I had to dig around a bit, in the feathers (matted with blood and mud), to make sure I got all the string out. The rooster's foot started bleeding again, and I felt pretty sorry about how much it must hurt, but the blood flow did help clean the wounds out.

I rinsed the whole leg well with lots of clean water, and I'm happy to report that after a couple of days, I saw the bird actually walking around again, and the swelling had gone down.
