23. Had a wet washrag thrown in my mouth
I recall my mother was torturing me about continuing my French studies. It was right after my older brother graduated from high school. Someone at my brother's high school had won an award for taking French from elementary school through senior year.

Recalling I was at one end of the kitchen and she was at another, she was harping at me that if I only continued taking French in high school (at the time I was in 8th grade), and I had finished the sentence, "that I'd win some award". The next thing I knew I was tasting a wet dirty dishrag. My mother bassed at me, "don't you dare interrupt me"

Thus began 10 years of hell that ended when I moved cross country to start my career.
