Actually, excess protein gets excreted out through urine, which is why it's recommended one drink plenty of water if one is eating a lot of protein. Kidney damage was only shown in patients already in renal failure. You think otherwise? Prove it - cite a peer reviewed paper that shows kidney damage in normal healthy adults from excess protein consumption. I dare you.

Muscle is made of protein, so if you're heavily training extra protein consumption will help add muscle quicker. Hillary Swank in the new boxing movie put on 16 lbs of muscle in 5 months or so by boxing a lot and...downing protein shakes!

I recommend www.proteinfactory.com for inexpensive, high quality protein powders, which should be used as a supplement anyway since your protein should be coming from eggs, milk, meat, beans for the most part.
