The matters of abortion are of the laws of man.
In the firm belief of this practicing Catholic, it is the responsibility of the church to change the hearts of mankind so that they will obey the laws of god from desire, not from worldly legal obligation.
It never has been and never should be a mission of the church to change the laws of mankind. To do so interferes with the practice of free will and good works, and is undue influence on legislature which should remain accessible regardless of faith.
