As far as vocalist, Freddy would qualify. His range was amazing.

I just think of vocalists of being more involved in the voice as an instrument, so I think more along the lines of Joni Mitchell, Aretha, Billie Holliday, Annie Lennox, Bette Midler, etc.

There is a relatively unknown vocalist from England named Sheila Chandra, she has an Indian background, and her voice is absolutely amazing, chilling and relaxing.

I suppose Norah Jones is one of the newer singers I would put in that ilk.
