Reply #18: Broadway show - "Rent" - in April 2001

My niece was always into singing and acting and when she was little I told her I would take her to a Broadway show for her 16th birthday. She never forgot I said that and held me to it. She picked Rent because she was just fanatic about the story and the music. She knows all the words to every song. After that weekend so did I. I took her and one of her girlfriends and they sang constantly.

We flew from NC to NY, stayed at the Hilton, toured the city for a couple of days, seeing all the tourist sites of course. I have some wonderful pictures of the twin towers. It's weird to think that just a few months later they were gone.

The night of the show I surprised her with a prearranged limo to take us to and from the show and a drive around to see the neon lights on Broadway (they are bright ya know)

I was not familiar with Rent and was disappointed about her choice, but damn it was good! After seeing it I was very glad she picked it. She gave me a CD of the soundtrack and it used to crack her up every time I would sing one of the songs from it.

Memories are lighting the corners of my mind....
