grandparents thinking - letting a 2-year old get near a monkey. Even a dog. Many otherwise nice animals "could" bite a 2-year old who is grabbing at them or jumping up and down. Even if the bite was unprovoked, the child was near enough to get bitten and he should never have been that close. On the other hand, if the monkey was running around free in the store, it could be the fault of the monkey's owner for not controlling it.
