6. Farscape and Firefly were both pretty subversive
But Farscape was killed by the Sci-Fi Channel (after going downhill for its last two seasons) and Firefly was never even given a chance.

Science fiction is normally a good bet for anti-establishment attitudes (except for Star Trek) -- but I gather that in next fall's line-up, the only sf consists of future cop shows and future lawyer shows. Blech.

I'm hoping that Pirates of the Caribbean may spark some shows about the joys of being an honorable outlaw -- but I'm not holding my breath.

Meanwhile, I tend to watch anime instead. Lots of good subversiveness there.
