126. You don't get it yet, emr. Keep reading about Cindy & VFP
She, individually, is about peace and is a peaceful person.

The VFP as an organization is about peace and peaceful means. Many in the Vets for Peace have seen the worst, have put their lives on the line for this country, and only a fool would question their patriotism. But their work is about noviolence and peaceful means. (You can google for info about them, and about Arlington West.)

As for Arlington West, I personally have witnessed the impact that it has on the families and friends of the fallen. They come to those crosses on the beach in Santa Barbara, and whether or not they agree with this war they are just overcome. This president, this administration, have tried their utmost to keep a lid on any public acknowledgement of the depth of sacrifice that is being made by our service-members and their families. AW is a very public memorial, and every cross has a name. The crosses go up once a week -- they are only up for one day at a time -- but people actually bring flowers, actually kneel in the sand, actually cry. Young marines in full dress uniform walk the rows and search for the names of their comrades. They kneel in the sand...

This trucker who lost his son in Iraq -- do you think he went away unchanged by this enounter at Camp Casey? This peaceful, healing encounter?

Btw -- welcome to DU.
