Much Ado About Books 2005: Writing the Memoir
S.V. Date, Mirta Ojito, and Karen Spears Zacharias

From the 2005 Much Ado About Books festival in Jacksonville, Florida, a panel discussion on writing the memoir moderated by Florida Times-Union editor Pat Yack. Panelists include S.V. Date, author of "Quiet Passion: A Biography of Bob Graham"; Mirta Ojito, author of "Finding Manana: Memoir of a Cuban Exodus"; and Karen Spears Zacharias, author of "Hero Mama."

S.V. Date covers politics for the Palm Beach Post and is the author of numerous books including "Smokeout" and "Final Orbit." Mirta Ojito is a native of Cuba who immigrated to the United States during the Mariel Boat Lift of 1980. Ms. Ojito was the recipient of the 2000 Pulitzer Prize for national reporting and she currently writes for the New York Times in their Miami Bureau. Karen Spears Zacharias has written extensively about veterans and veterans' issues and serves on the national advisory board of the Virtual Wall and Orphans of War Foundation. She has written previously for the New York Times and currently serves as a contributing columist to The Veteran magazine.
