I wanted to follow in the footsteps of my father and uncles but I did not want to serve for 3 years. I remember telling the recruiter, during the summer of 73, that if the army ever came up with a 2 year enlistment, he could count me in.. Well, the army was having problems with recruitment after Vietnam so they did come up with a 2 year enlistment and yes, I did sign up and was gone within a week. The rest is history..
