178. Barter with a vet?
I've found a lot of difference between the city based 'cat and dog' vet and the rural based 'big animal vet's.

We have a friendly vet who is happy to barter things like treatment, and is also happy to teach me how to do a lot of the more mundane things myself (you don't want to know where my hands have been, and the worse it is, the more pleasure he takes in teaching me)

Maybe your area is rural enough to find someone.

Also, I have an old (1951) Ferguson tractor that runs on everything from veg oil to paint thinners to kero, and runs all day without complaint. It was made for times like these, all parts rebuildable, nothing replacable. Folks will do anything for you if you lend them a tractor for the day.
