16. What I find all too funny...
And I may give away myself, because I do visit Free Republic occasionaly, but what the hell:

What I find totally funny is a freeper would have the same exact thinking (only reversed) that you have.

The right tend to think of the left as "victims, powerless, mistrusting, angry, bitter, paranoid."

The left think the same about the right.

Eventually the two will cancel each other out, and the moderates with their common sense will take over.

I'll be perfectly honest...and again, this might get me zapped... and again I've been lurking on Free Republic longer than on DU...

But it *APPEARS* that Free Republic people take longer strides to oust the fringe on their side than DU does on their side.

Or to put another way... (and again, this is just observation on my part, I haven't done any number crunching)... I'm more likely to find the lunatic fringe on DU than I am on Free Republic. I saw thread after thread on DU how Kerry was going to be magically inagurated on Jan. 20th, even after he was defeated in the general election, even after he was defeated in the Electoral College, even after the Congress certified the EC's vote on the 6th. I'm just a run of the mill guy, and that's pretty damn loopy to me.

In contrast -- I see threads all the time where comments were deleted by moderators because they were (I assume) "hate speech", racist, or didn't fit in with the principles of Free Republic. And you can post a "I hate Sean Hannity/Rush Limbaugh/whomever" thread and have 100 posts agree with you (and another 100 disagree).

I'm not going to say Free Republic is balanced. I'm not even going to say it's more genial than DU (both websites have *A LOT* of hate)... but DU would do itself a service if it separated itself from the fringe.

Because... again... I'm saying this as a moderate, regular guy, from a Blue State (Washington) some of y'all are pretty damn loopy.
