3. Why does the culture need to be rescued?
That's what I don't get. A culture is what it is - it evolves over time, to fit the circumstances. You can't rescue something that doesn't exist anymore. Why long for the repressive, in-denial model of the past?

I've had this discussion with Mombob more than once, never get anywhere. She just insists that things were wonderful in the thirties, forties, and fifties.

I think it's one of the most basic differences between liberals and conservatives.
