does anyone have any idea just how much we import from Mexico, and other places?
Aside from questions about whether or not it's a good idea to import produce when we can grow our own, we are probably going to continue doing it. This was a rare occurence, considering the vast amount of stuff we get from there, and it may be a bit more worthwhile to try enforcing health standards than throwing blame and scares around.
We do have our own problems with food, although hep A doesn't appear to be one of them. Note the recalls over rotten meat, peanuts, and whatever else.
Note also the amount of food rejected at ports of entry for various reasons. Not one nation can say it hasn't had had something rejected.
A fun talking point, but ultimately useless and unworkable.
