And I agree, these are frightening times. Corruption runs rampant and virtually unchecked at the highest levels of government, and behind the scenes.
The right-wing-nuts seem to have the loudest and most commanding voices (save for a few bright shining folks like that blessed Ragin' Cajun Carville) and people don't seem to have the patience/intelligence to listen to real news or anything beyond pithy, feel good sound bites (a la Raygun's "America is back, standing tall.")
I think the best answer is action...getting truly involved at your local level can be a great way to stave off malaise, and possibly even make a difference!
If we give up before we start, we deserve what we wind up with!
