Of course it is showing up on Christmas Sunday, but that is ok. I didn't expect the DMN to even read it.... they did edit about a third of it away, but oh well. If you're interested

This is about democracy

on edit: this is what I actually sent them, as opposed to what was printed:

Secret 'eavesdropping' is not ok... ever. There are a lot of reasons why, but I think the Fourth Ammendment to the US Constitution is the clearest, and most important one. Have you read the Constitution lately? I highly recommend a quick read.

I want to know why no one in the press has commented on the fact that during the conference Monday, Bush basically said he was above the law and that because he is president he can do whatever he wants. You realize he just declared himself dictator, don't you? He just threw 225+ years of American principles and tradition out the window, and did so proudly proclaiming his righteousness.

This issue is not about petty conservative/liberal squabbling. This is about the fundamental rights guaranteed to us all in the Bill of Rights. This is about democracy itself.

"The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people, it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government -- lest it come to dominate our lives and interests." Patrick Henry
