the state of louisiana said the unemployment rate is 17 percent

17 percent

that is close to great depression era stuff

ok, we're only 1 state, but i bet it's no better in mississippi

did they just pull the gulf coast states out of the statistics to make it look better?

kind of how when enron & worldcom stock become worthless, they pull them off the dow jones so the new average isn't suddenly 5,000 or something?
