That's the key phrase right there. Just because we're noticing it now doesn't mean that it has increased. Without data from the past, there's no way to tell; all we can say is that it is happening now.
That said, it's still very sad, even though top-level predators like polar bears have to die off occasionally so that there is enough food for the rest of them. Since they mainly eat seals, perhaps we need to check the seal population to find out what's going on there... besides clubbing of their young for fur-lined trinkets, of course. :mad: Canada needs to stop doing that.
