Royal Canadian Mounted Police Sgt. Dana Hart said they a person driving along a highway reported that a single-engine plane was having difficulty and that smoke was coming from it.
Hart said the witness did not actually see any crash and that there have been no reports of missing planes in the area and no signs of a crash on land or in water.
"The individual is pretty sure what they saw, so we're investigating," Hart said.
