A Saturday night midnight mass is what we'll have this year, and that's cool--as it should be. I used to drive home by a large Catholic church here in my small town, and their parking lot was always full on any early Saturday evening. I guess in theory it doesn't or shouldn't matter when you go to church, but if you're going to bend that little rule/custom purely because you want to go out and party later on, well, seems a little hypocritical.
