the exit side of a freeway last Thurs.
My co-worker picked her up and brought her to the office. I fell in love with it it is so adorable. She couldn't keep it because she already has 5 dogs but she didn't want to give it up to any agencies for fear that they might eventually euthanize her or even give her away to even another fucked up home.
So I kept her and brought her home. For you dog enthusiasts that may ask, I have kept a dog before, the first thing I did was take her to the vet got her initially checked up. She's healthy. Yesterday I got the first of her vaccines and a true check-up. I've got her on a vaccine/check-up plan that includes her spaying when the time comes.
The poor girl had a thorn in her back that the vet removed as well, other than that though no dieseases or worms or anything bad usually related to puppies. She had no tags or collar or anything to identify her.
As for how she looks I will post pics of her in her new home with us when I get around to it (right now we're still sort of in set-up mode) I already went all out and got her a huge kennel, lots of dry and wet food, a bed, and some chew toys and treats.
She looks like she definitely has some St Bernard in her but she has the face more like a sheperd or maybe even a akita.
Amazingly she is already almost housebroken and actually tugs at me sometimes in the middle of the night wanting me to take her outside to poop or piddle.
She is extremely friendly with people-you pet her and she loves you pure and simple which is amazing given what kind of home she probably came from.
Speaking of where she came from the area she was picked up in is a terrible area of town rife with ignorant yahoos who like to shoot gophers just for fun, and probably dabble in a little animal torture here and there.
Yes it is in fact a VERY "Red" area just to throw a little politics out there.
I shit you not this town's bad side has some sick demented fucks which is why quite frankly if someone eventually does bother to report her missing I'm not gonna answer it.
It's been 4 days now and no one's bothered to call in or do anything (we contacted Animal Control and the humane society and alerted them that we have a missing dog but thus far no one has called back)
So as far as I'm concerned she's ours and she will have a fantastic home and she already has gotten used to me and my girlfriend and we will ensure that she gets the best care possible.
The vet said she's about 2 months old, so spaying won't be an option till about 4 months I think.
Oh and we named her "Keela" :)
More on her when I get around to it but here are a few pics:
