The more I read about this horror of the Pombo amendment, the more I feel that we have to fight it tooth and nail. It was slipped into a big budget bill at the last minute, secretly, with no public hearings. And it would allow foreign and domestic investors to buy up OUR public lands and national forests and "develop" them or ravage them, fence them off, take whatever minerals were there using whatever devastating technology they pleased, and leave then barren and ruined. No royalties for the minerals they took, either.

This is beyond outrageous. It is permanently catastrophic and also a major scandal that the corrupt House GOPs would try to pull this off. Yet the major media have hardly mentioned it. The LATimes, but as far as I know, NOT the NY Times or the Wash Post.
