9. The Hand Is Already Shown...Delay and Drag It Out
This worked in Iran-Contra. By the time Walsh was able to really indict and go to trial, so much time had passed that the public and politic interest to move forward was almost zero. Cases that weren't covered by Poppy's pardon were quickly settled out. Even in Clinton's case...watching Bob Ray discuss this on TDS last night...he could have gone after Clinton but the appetite/interest/motive just wasn't there.

This is what the Repugnicans are hoping is the case with Libby. Since he wasn't a high profile figure, they assume the public's interest in him and his case will fade as it drags on through months and possibly years.

Also, remember, there's a clock running on Fitzgerald here. He has another year or so to really keep this investigations/prosecutions going or have it fall into the noise of time and the next political campaign. Plus, fatigue will surely set in. Long trials aren't fun and sexy...all that Fitzmas happy-happy-joy-joy will long be forgotten by the time a jury is handed any Plame Affair case.

Libby is and will remain low profile. He's no threat to this regime I suspect that if he's convicted, he'll quickly be pardoned and then vanish into right wing think tank land...back to work on the next clandestine war.
