Yes, Fitz is not an IC...and doesn't report to Congress.

However...something to ponder...he was appointed by Asskroft, who did recuse himself...but I don't think I've seen where Gonzalez has. And you know Al was right there with a lot of what was going on during those halcyon days of 2003. I thought I read where Gonzalez was questioned by Fitzgerald's people...which would be an interesting twist, but Gonzalez was a White House lawyer then and germaine to the investigation.

I think with all this work and time invested for Fitzgerald just to wither away into the night is highly unlikely. I've seen this man work on George Ryan. It took several years, and he used similar tactics of turning lower ranked apparachniks on their upper-ups and slowly turned the screws until he got to the real meat of the issue. I sense he's done this and just ready to share his two years of investigating with us.
