... to perform the function of political firewall around Reagan and Bush ... and cover up the far more serious corruption and complicity in criminal activities. There's very little question in my mind that Iran/Contra NEVER got to the corruption within our overseas intelligence operations - a corruption that was carefully protected for "future use." It's worth "burning" a Poindexter to save that. It's worth "burning" an Ollie North to save Poppy's ass. The fall-guy "firewalls" are like layers of an onion ... protections around protections.
