The Saga of Two Korean Girls Slain by Americans Continues

On July 14, the relatives of the two slain Korean teenage girls met with Major General Honore, the commander of the US Army 2nd Infantry Division. False promises made by this officer came to light belatedly. These empty promises were kept unpublished on the expectation that Maj. Gen. Honore would meet again with the Koreans and make his promises official. In fact, Honore requested the Koreans to keep his words confidential until the second meeting, which did not happen and the good general left Korea without saying goodbye to the Koreans.

Attending the July 14th meeting were Honore and his wife, Lee Shin Oh, US-ROKA Combined Command deputy divisional commander, Major Ohno and others from the US side and seven members of the victims relatives. The conversations at the 'friendly' get-together were taped with the consent of the general, who had agreed to sign the transcripts. The general was replaced on July 19th and there was no 2nd meeting or signing of the transcripts.

Honore was given a grand farewell party on July 19 with US Army honor guards and salutes from Korean generals.
