46. Disaster relief has been dismantled
FEMA is a shell of what it was under Clinton.

Team Bush gutted it for their recreational war.

And if there's another hurricane this season that destroys another city, they will suffer the same fate.

Tornado supercells. Blizzards. Earthquakes. Epidemics. Terrorist attacks. We saw it four Septembers ago, we're seeing it now, and we will see it again. The response will be the same: if the problem is too big, the victims will be left to dangle for at least five days, and probably longer.

There will then be a major show of concern as Our Courageous and Beloved Leader surveys the damage once it's safe enough to visit. Yellow and Red-White-and-Blue ribbons will sell again like cheap porn. Country musicians will jump on the bandwagon just as soon as they can find one. And Bill Clinton will be denounced from the pulpits of the TV journalism priesthood.

Team Bush will pat itself on the back, and when nobody's watching, they'll pull the rug out from under the victims a second time.

It has finally come to this in America: We're on our own.
